Moty Pikelner - Social Worker

Individual and Group Therapy, Lectures, and Consulting.

Nice to meet you, my name is Moty Pikelner.

I am a social worker (MSW) and emotional therapist with years of experience in therapeutic work with adolescents, young adults, and soldiers. I see clients in private clinics in Haifa and the Krayot, guiding them on a personal journey to understand, cope with, and grow from the difficulties they experience. Along the way, I have treated individuals facing a wide range of challenges – from behavioral disorders in adolescence, through depression and anxiety, to situations of confusion or crisis related to relationships, employment, military service, or family dynamics.

The therapy I offer is based on peer-level conversation, where we explore the individual’s life story – past, present, and future – to foster a deep understanding of their reality, build identity, and enable them to make different choices. I believe that good therapy is a safe space where you can be exactly who you are, without masks or judgment, with professional guidance that respects each client’s pace and inner world. Sessions last 50 minutes and typically take place once a week, sometimes twice, depending on the need.

Youth care

As a clinical social worker specializing in addictions, I offer professional and personalized treatment to adolescents facing a variety of psychosocial challenges. My extensive experience as a therapist in identifying at-risk youth and facilitating therapeutic and psycho-educational groups enables me to address complex situations such as violence, suicidality, bullying, mood disorders, and anxiety. In individual therapy, I create a safe and containing space for the adolescent, building trust and utilizing therapeutic techniques tailored to their age and specific challenges. My therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based interventions, with an emphasis on developing personal resilience, social skills, and coping mechanisms for stress and emotional difficulties.

Treatment of young people (ages 18-35)

With clinical specialization as part of my Master’s degree in social work, I focus on assisting young adults aged 18-35 who are navigating the challenges of transitioning into adulthood and life tasks at this stage. In my clinics in Haifa and the Krayot, I treat a wide range of issues typical for young people in Israel, such as financial and social pressures, career and identity crises, anxiety, and functional difficulties in various settings. My experience working with the LGBTQ+ population and treating combat stress reaction victims (as a reserve mental health officer) gives me a deep understanding of the unique challenges young Israelis face. The individual therapy I offer is based on a holistic approach that integrates all life circles, with an emphasis on developing independence, building a cohesive identity, and acquiring skills to cope with life’s challenges.

Group facilitation

As an experienced group facilitator, I offer professional facilitation services to organizations and institutions in various fields. My experience includes leading therapeutic and psycho-educational groups for adolescents and adults, groups for coping with behavioral issues, and parent workshops in various settings such as “Parents Directorate” in Haifa. As part of my work with “Masa Shichrur” (Peace Of Mind), I facilitate groups for demobilized soldiers, helping them adjust to civilian life and cope with the aftermath of military service. My experience as a therapist for “Metiv” – The Israel Center for Psychotrauma in Jerusalem, enables me to lead groups on topics of trauma, resilience, and post-traumatic growth. My facilitation approach emphasizes creating a safe and enabling atmosphere, utilizing practical tools and exercises for personal and group empowerment.

Professional lectures

As an experienced lecturer in the fields of therapy and welfare, I offer in-depth and practical lectures on a variety of topics: substance abuse prevention, adolescent therapy, coping with homelessness, immigration issues, youth treatment, trauma coping, developing civic resilience, and post-traumatic recovery and growth. My lectures are based on practical experience and current research, and are delivered at leading academic institutions such as the Adler Institute, the University of Haifa, and the “Orot Israel” Academic College. My international experience as a lecturer at conferences and seminars abroad, and my work with international organizations such as UNICEF, UNAIDS, OSCE, and UNDP, enable me to bring a broad perspective and global knowledge. The lectures combine theory, up-to-date research, case studies, and practical tools that participants can apply in their work.

Training of professionals

With over a decade of experience in supervision and consulting, I offer professional guidance services to therapeutic teams and welfare organizations. Since 2014, I’ve been teaching and supervising practicum courses at the School of Social Work in Ramat Gan, and on behalf of the Ministry of Welfare, I supervise senior staff at youth protection shelters. The supervision I provide focuses on developing therapeutic skills, coping with complex cases, and preventing burnout and secondary trauma. As the CEO of “Bait Mishelcha” (Your Own Home), an NGO for the rehabilitation of homeless individuals in Haifa, I bring rich experience in managing teams and complex social projects. My supervision combines theoretical approaches with practical tools, emphasizing experiential learning, reflection, and critical thinking, enabling professionals to develop their capabilities and improve the quality of service they provide.

why choose me

Field experience

Fieldwork has taught me to intimately understand the reality in which adolescents and young adults live – with all the challenges, pressures, and complexities that characterize their world.

Honesty and activeness in treatment

My approach is based on honest, open and active dialogue. I don’t just listen, but I am truly involved in the process – questioning, challenging, reflecting and being there to help you see things from a different perspective.

Connection to social understanding

My therapy focuses not only on what is happening within the person, but also on the relationships around them – the family, society, culture, and community they live in. I see the importance of a deep understanding of the interrelationships between the person and their environment.

Questions that lead to self-discovery

One of my primary tools in therapy and supervision is the ability to ask precise questions that invite thought, emotion, and insight. I don't provide simple or prescriptive answers; instead, I create a space where the right question can open a door to a deeper understanding of yourself, your patterns, and what truly motivates you.
